There have been some questions about the design plans and what that process looks like. HTW and Associates is the architecture firm we got the estimated costs for renovation and/or building and who provided, at no cost, the preliminary design that was shared at the public meeting held last week. They used the Arkansas Department of Education Facilities Division guidelines to determine cost estimates. There are special requirements for almost every type of room on a school campus.
It is not typical to have completed plans if a millage must be passed before moving forward. The cost of complete plans can be between 5% and 15% of the total cost of the project. So the completed plans for a project our size could cost between $135,000 and $405,000. So, no, we do not have complete plans yet.
I hesitated in sharing the preliminary design online because this is not the final plan. However, I understand the community wanting to see what it could be, so it is posted here.
